When Art Meets Science: Nano-Explosions →
This spectacular image of “Nano-Explosions” won first prize in this year’s “Science as Art” contest. Fanny Beron, a student from the École Polytechnique de Montréal used a color-enhanced electron scanning micrograph to record the explosion that happened when a magnetic nanowire array (CoFeb) was overloaded. The result is a beautiful yet apocalyptic artwork.
